Penalties....

I have noticed in one of my leagues in particular that I am suddenly getting a huge number of penalties.. latest game I got 13 to my opponents 2, and they cost me the game.

What can be done by me?

What is being done, if anything, code wise? It really hurts gameplay to see all your work negated by a capricious decision by the cpu.

It's not entirely capricious. You played the latest one against GrandadB, master of the mismatch. A player who knows he is beat on a play is much more likely to commit a penalty. I've had him do it to me a few times ...

In the previous one, you had the ball twelve minutes longer, and got three times the yards your opponent did. I'd bet a lot of your calls there were false start and holding, as your offense got fatigued.

Penalties are directly correlated to the number of plays that you run. Basically on every play you have a % chance to commit a penalty. If you run more plays, you have more penalties because you will have more chances to commit.

All Discipline does is partial negate the chance the penalty will be committed. But whether a penalty will happen gets rolled first, as far as I can tell, so you can basically ignore Discipline.

So in my last game, when Buffalo had a time of possession of just 19:27 and got an incredibly 7 first downs from penalties. That was just pure dumb luck?

I committed further 3 penalties (probably on offense), which seems rather low in 40 minutes of play.

Over time/snaps, penalties even out to correspond with a player's discipline

The number of play thing would make sense if it weren't for so many defensive penalties... ESPECIALLY pass interference.

If one of my d-lineman gets close to the QB, there is a 50% chance its pass int. I don't even need to look at the message anymore. This would make SOME sense if sacks were too high, but they are extremely low in this version.

Penalties add to realism sure... but to watch games repeatedly get decided by them is really tedious, and in my opinion seriously detracts from the overall quality of the game.
