Suggestion #1 (New-player-only league)

Hello, welcome to buenoboss11's series on how to improve MFN. Number 1 is a "newbie only" league. Please reply and comment your ideas and suggestions to this ideas. Look for future installments

This is a radical idea, but I think it’s a good idea. So, when I started playing MFN, my first team was a terrible, AI-drafted team that I ruined with trading sprees, no idea of gameplanning, and cutting players endlessly that had big bonuses without realizing that the dead cap existed. I have come back to fix this team, but there are teams all over MFN that have been ruined by newbies who are still learning.

We can fix that

How would a league, a league where the new players are automatically joined into, where they learn the ropes with experienced MFN players (i’m thinking sethrick, punisher, beercloud, tribewriter, grandadb, etc.). So the league would work like this…

When a new player joins MFN, he/she is added to a “newbie” league, where they learn the ropes (gameplanning, cap management, etc.)

An expired MFN player will take care of one division each (so they will look over three teams/players) and answer questions for them, help them with trades and other important aspects of the game

After they complete one season in the league, they will be removed from the league and allowed to join any league of their choice. They will have a better understanding of the things that “noobs” have problems with.

The next batch of new MFN players will then enter a new league (NOOB-2) and do the same thing.

This would teach new players the skills they need to succeed in MFN and keep teams in good shape and competitive, not -66 million over the cap with 25+ million in dead cap smoking dumpster fires outside of a Red Lobster in the middle of June.

Thanks for reading, comment on this post, and look for future posts!

Peace!

I wont speak for all vets but I will say I think ROs are a perfect starting point to at least learn cap management and roster development. When you begin to go down the tunnel of gameplanning, its more or less sink or swim. I think there are enough helps from the vets through these forums (but you are going to have to dig and dig (or ask punisher to find the links .. Lol)).

A mentoring league would be difficult to pull off I would think. But that is solely my opinion. Of course, I'm not a game planner so I wouldnt be a good mentor anyways .. Lol

Yeah. I'd say, as a relatively new user; if you put in the effort and research a bit, you're never making any grave mistakes. Of course mistakes happen, but you avoid the worst of them.

The first league I joined was newly created. I had the chance to start at zero with an allocation draft and no salary cap issues. My entire playbook was/still is a blank slate. I know I'm playing against vets that already know all the right plays to use, but I'm letting mine develop organically. I drafted a young roster because I knew I wouldn't win right away while I'm learning the playbook.
I believe this is the best possible situation for a new player, but it looks like allocation drafts dont happen that often.
