New Leagues Draft

Can we have it so that the draft will not happen until the minimum number of teams has been met so it will help eliminate what happened in MFN-33. There ia a team there with 14 players with ratings of 90 or more. I was going to join that league but was hard pressed to find a team that had 1 or even a few over 80. There also has to be better way for CPU teams to draft as well

I think the biggest issue with CPU drafting is that they seem to place close to zero emphasis on potential, focusing instead solely on player's current abilities. However, like JDavid has stated before, as this is a relatively rare event, it's not as much of a priority to 'get right' just now.

That said, yes, absolutely, there should be a minimum number of players joined before a new league draft begins!

I may try to change the draft to not start unless it is at least X% full (I'm thinking 50% or even more, thoughts?)

The AI weighs players at the midpoint between current and future, ideally this should prevent the AI from loading up on all ancient players (as it would if it looked only at the current) or all young players (as it would if it only looked at the current) - but I agree that the logic could be improved significantly to more closely resemble what a human GM would do.

I think part of the issue is that players without XP at their native position (ie young players) are listed as having a dramatically lower current rating than they do in reality, despite the fact that most players can have multiple positions mastered in a single season. Either XP gains need to be slowed (making the current assessment more accurate), or CPU GMs need to start calculating players based off a presumed 100% XP rating (so when calculating a player's score, instead of finding the midpoint between 33 and 100, they're finding the midpoint between 60 and 100).

I think waiting for leagues to fill up more would definitely help.

The cpu also needs to do better for owners wishing to join after the draft. You choose one of those teams and your gonna have to depend highly on the draft or trade your draft picks away to get players (which just makes the strong stronger IMO). To get players out of FA will take at least 3-4 years before you may start seeing a decent starter or 2 because all of the good players are tied up in contracts for 2+ seasons still. So this is really a 5 plus season build for owners that didnt get to be involved in draft. New players joining the game can see this as very dicouraging

I agree with Morbid here.

I've already dropped out of one League because it was going to take entirely too long to even try to catch up to teams that were not that good, let alone, the Upper Echelon Teams in the League.

I also have another "ADOPTED" team that is going to be a while to get it's house in order, but I'm going to try to make it better but only it doesn't get worse.

When you take over drafted teams, you certainly must be committed. Cause you know, no one is going to help you, or feel sorry for you. They probably laugh at you, as they're kicking your *** game after game!

The main problem is you will always be chasing some of the really good teams because they are constantly cycling players in and out for 1st round draft picks. I dont do this myself and rely on FA and draft for most part. But you can pretty much go to any league and see the really stocked teams sitting on 2+ 1st round picks for multiple seasons.

Dont get me wrong I like to win and am very competitive but i would prefer a much balanced league and depend on my coaching skills over stocking my team with draft picks. But to each there own I guess.

Offense is the key in this game right now, if you have top skilled players on Offense you can win consistently with a mediocre Defense IMO

Yea, I don't do that either, although I may have to resort to desperate measures to keep my interest up in losing!

My 2 best teams are teams I drafted myself. So I wont be taking on any more drafted teams, but will keep the ones that are salvageable and has a chance to get better, or I'll simply dump them! Like everyone else does.
