Re: Training camp results - visible early?

Hi,

Due to failing battery, laptop usually left plugged in - so moving between room, power goes, boot back up. Using Firefox, my browser tabs are restored when starting FF. MFN tabs are there, naturally ;)

As a result the pages remain on the pages I was on before without being logged in. This is where things get wierd.

Looking at the team page http://cust10.myfootballnow.com/team/7 WITHOUT being logged in, it's clear player current/max values HAVE changed. One qb lost, another gained. Training camp is scheduled to run in 12:24 and seconds at the time of posting this.

When I log in however, the PREVIOUS cur/max values are displayed.

So, are TCs "pre-generated" then the results visible to the owner at the time TC is scheduled to be performed or are the results generated at the time TC is scheduled.

If it's the case of the former - TCs already run, just "time locked" - then there's a bug because it's visible if you are not logged in.

Example.

NOT LOGGED IN
#9 Melvin Burns QB 2 6' 2" 222 Healthy 57 68

LOGGED IN
#9 Melvin Burns QB 2 6' 2" 222 Healthy 53 61

Further info; if you select the player to get the player card and go to the details section, the cur/max values are as above varying depending upon logged in status.

If that's merely javascript operating off the player data returned for the team page display, then it's understandable they are in sync.

It just seems odd to me if it were say a caching issue because it would seem to be randomly assigning values to players for progress only.

If you use custom Player Weights that would probably explain the difference in player rating that you're seeing when you're logged out.

Hmm, that does make sense - after all the logged out version would use default weightings as it wouldn't know whose weightings to apply.

Guess not a bug then.

EDIT.

Reset my player weightings - it now uses HC's values. Those values were different from the logged out values - obviously, ho would the game know the HCs values if not logged in? Would that however mean the values displayed when not logged in are thus more accurate, "absolute" values without any error introduced by weighting bias, either by HC or by the user? Interesting...

The coaches all have "recommended" values that are different than the "default" values for you would see if you aren't in the league, and even vary from coach to coach based on their offensive and defensive styles. (i.e. a run-oriented head coach will have a higher weight for run blocking vs pass blocking for all the OL positions, while a pass-oriented head coach will have the opposite).

That makes sense. So really there's never any objective ratings merely subjective.

That is correct - one of my favorite features of the game is that you can make those ratings emphasize whatever you want them to, which makes pursuing players in the draft and FA all that more interesting.
