I mean, not really. A Star in Madden has always been a Star. You put them in the right position (Play Calling), and they will ball out.
But the issue with Madden, for the longest time, was Speed was King. You could take a 55 at WR, but with 99 Speed... and they didn't have the proper scaling back then, so he wouldn't Drop enough passes to impact him blowing past Defenders and getting wide open. As long as you had the QB with an Arm to get it out there, a 99 Speed WR was Pure Gold regardless of Rating.
Same for RB, if you ever ran Off-Tackle (not Sweeps, to risky) you could **** every one inside and bounce out for huge gains.
Now they've worked a ton on the Engine to change some of these things. Defenders have more impact on lesser skilled Receivers, RBs need more Agility and Vision to make those cuts, players don't just make instant cuts anymore.
